On My Back
This is the first of my three Blips to be uploaded from our weekend away, in Newcastle, Co. Down.
This one found me flat on my back in the middle of the Round Keep, part of Dundrum Castle, originally started in the 12th century. I attracted some strange looks from a family of American tourists who were visiting the castle at the time. Excuse the dirty lens; I didn't realise how back it was until after I'd downloaded the pictures onto my crappy laptop.
Round Keeps are fairly rare in Ireland and are thought to originate in Pembrokeshire, in Wales. Henry VIII is said to have stayed at the castle on a few occasions and to have enjoyed the local hunting. Dundrum Castle allows some great views of Dundrum Bay and the Mourne Mountains.
