Mushroom Kingdom

This pot has sprung a mushroom once before. This time the growth is more robust. I believe a total of 9 shrooms (one may have been cut off on the left). Mushrooms are an interesting organism. I looked on Wikipedia for more info and I just don't get how they just pop up from nowhere. They are fungi meaning that they are not plants. What more can I tell you? I'm just confused by them. All I know is that some shrooms can look really cool. These ones are cute on their own right.

Oh yeah, I should explain the ginger. I'm trying to get my ginger to sprout a leaf and grow into a ginger plant. I read online that all you have to do is stick in a pot of dirt. Not much action so far.
