Water Garden

It is indeed a milestone; the ceremonious moment when I flick the switch to turn the water fountain on. Preceding that dainty little motion are hours of work to clean the leaf debris from between the pebbles, drain the old, stagnant water left from the snow melt, insert and re-attach the pump, plant new papyrus-since the old ones didn't overwinter inside the house-and lay new flat stepping stones between the plants so the little kids have something to stand on when they get themselves soaked.

All this while Summer waits for an engraved invitation.

Next project is the canvas shade canopy for the pergola.
