Bamboo shoots

These are the first signs of summer - bamboo shoots emerging everywhere at the back of the garden. This is Phyllostachys bambusoides castillonis. It is big gold bamboo with green stripes and really beautiful. We bought our choice of bamboos at La Bambouseraie de Prafrance near Anduze (famous for the glazed jars) many years ago. It is a great place to visit. BTW: The jungle scenes of the film Le salaire de la peur, The Wages of Fear, starring Yves Montand have been shot there in the 50s.
