Not far from where I live is a little brook that runs through a vast residential area. It has a wide green shoulder and birds and insects seem to flourish there.

This morning I spotted this lovely black sunbird on a red hot poker (Kniphofia). Wet, drenched fynbos and mud kept me from getting closer.
