Gratuitous Firemen Blip!
The never ending whirl that is my life continued today with the opening of the school's Summer Art Exhibition in the school Art Gallery. They do a "proper" opening after school and invite local artists and the such and it is quite pleasant. It is also invitation only to keep the rifraf out. I was invited as both girls were "exhibiting" - this is Lily's second time, her first piece is here.
The theme was Pop Art and they used Andy Warhol for inspiration. Each class chose a book and then produced artwork based on one or two characters from that book. The nursery did "We're Going On A Bear Hunt" and their poor teacher did 22 screen prints in one morning with a bunch of 3 and 4 years olds only to be criticised for having the wrong colour combinations! Bella's class looked at "Alice in Wonderland" and her picture is the very top left one. Ally's class chose The Beano for their inspiration but sadly his work wasn't picked this time.
Back home after a very disappointing Sainsburys tea and dropping Allly at Street Dance, I decided to sit on the back step and appreciate the view. I *may* have mentioned before that Thursday is practise night. It was very exciting this evening too as one of them dropped something from the ladder resulting in a loud clunk and much shouting. I am hoping that the chap in the HiVis coat was not inspecting them...
