More Arbutus, plus Goose
Yesterday I blipped the blossoms of the Arbutus. Here are the trunks of 2 large (maybe 30 meters?) trees in our 'back yard". --The young bark is smooth and chartreuse, the older bark (like this) is brownish red and peeling off. The moss here is because we live on the north, "rain forest" side of this little island!
And the lavender goose? One of the first concrete sculptures I made when we were first here. He lasted a long time (18 years?) on his stick legs in the concrete filled boots (which used to be bright yellow) but was knocked over (wind or deer?) and broke a leg so we propped him on the tree. He also had a broken neck from an earlier fall that I fixed. it's not safe to stand year around in these woods I guess!
Today, in a nice soft rain, we washed the cedar deck and the outdoor shower deck so one won't slip on the slime and break something. Now we need 3 sunny days to dry it out so we can put a finish on it. (and every other year job...)
We were trying to think summer, but had to give in today and build the first fire in the woodstove to warm up the cabin a bit. It feels great!
