Damn those hills........
With the winds dying at last it was time to jump on my bike and my older brother flitting to Glenfarg in Perthshire gave me just the excuse I needed for a good ride today. Over the bridge to Inverkeithing, Dunfermline and then the Cleish Hills and the effort begins in earnest. Fleeing down the other side for a white knuckle ride at up to 60 kph (and trying not to think of what would happen if I came off at that speed) to Kinross and Gateside before reaching Balvaird Castle and my brothers new house. Just over 3 hours for the 64 kms. I was well fortified with food and hot, sweet tea and after a rest of three hours it was time to head out in the increasingly strong wind for the return home. Legs were stiff and the Cleish Hills from the Kinross side are a LOT steeper and therefore a LOT slower. It started raining heavily at Dunfermline but almost home by then so not a problem. Back over the brig dodging the wind devastation near Dalmeny and got home just after 5.
126 kms for the day and feeling it now.
Lesson for the day: Take more food on long rides.
