Monsal Trail

Today was the grand opening of the tunnels on the Monsal Trail.
It came as a bit of a surprise to me as I didn't know that it was happening and was only out for a quiet bike ride and had never seen the trail so busy.
Opened by the Duke of Devonshire and aided by the Tideswell singers and children from a local school who rounded off the ceremony with a lovely version (complete with bicycle bells) of 'Daisy Daisy give me your answer Do' there was a splendid turnout.
The trail now runs unhindered all the way from Bakewell to Wyedale near Buxton and has taken nearly 2 years and cost about 2 million pounds.
