Snapshots of reality

Our first day in India.

After arriving at the hostel we met two Irish girls and decided to head out with them. After a lot of wandering around the Main Bazaar and finding Connaught Place, we were getting tired. Add to that that people kept on wanting to 'help' us find things, and the 44 degree heat, we were lead to a very un-Indian cafe where we drank some very expensive coke. After this we realised that tuk tuks were a much better way of getting around!

In the evening we headed to the India gate - where this was taken. There were loads of people around and the roads were closed, but we're not sure why. Duncan and I tried some odd fried breads that were filled with some sort of oily spicy thing. We got a tuk tuk to an Indian fast food place and tried some dosai, a tiffin and a thali. It was a lot better than UK fast food!

Finally we went for a beer at Club India, a rooftop cafe in the Paharganj backpackery area, and early to bed (since we hadn't slept in over 36 hours...)
