something's missing #3

So, we're staying with friends. Not just any old friends, but possibly the finest friends in the world. The sort of friends you can be utterly honest with, and who don't judge you for your human failings. Most of the time.

These same friends moved into their current hosue roughly 8 years ago. They noticed that there was a strange piece of coving across the ceiling at the join between the hallway and the dining room (the doorway had long since been removed). So one of the first jobs they undertook in the new house was to take down the offending piece of coving. I think they originally intended to plaster over it and make it look like it had never been there.

But, 8 years later, it's still there, gleaming in all its bare-plaster-ness. But would we be the sort of friends who point this out to them each and every time we visit? Oh yes we would :o)
