Clowning around.

Backblip:

Well, it was an eventful 24 hours. The man was supposed to be heading down to London. The first flight was cancelled because the "aircraft was dead" and they had to fly another one in from Antwerp first. IT was going to pick up passengers in London City and then come up to Dundee so no hurry to check in. An hour later the man comes dashing out of the shower swearing. The flight from London has been cancelled. It must be flying straight into Dundee!

So, relaxed morning became chaotic.

He throws on his kit, grabs his bag and his specs and tried to dash out of the door only to realise that he screw on his glasses needed tightened. Now just where is that screwdriver??? Needless to say it wasn't found in time.

While he headed off to the airport, I settled down to get a few things organised. He texted to tell me that the flight would probably take off about 12.30 and then I headed into town to the opticians. I kept checking to see if the plane had landed but arrivals at LC was still listing it as "expected" at 2.30pm... then it disappeared off the board completely. I didn't have a clue what had happened. It wasn't listed as landed, canceled or as having been diverted. Thankfully he called just after I got home to let me know that although the plane had to circle in order to duck in between gusts of high wind, it had finally landed in the right place.

He had to call me on my mobile though. Just after I arrived home about 3.00, the power went down. Digital phones don't really perform too well without electricity. To be fair, there isn't much that does these days.

After I went round to the shop (lots of structural damage to trees and buildings) I thought better of going out for a walk and I spent the evening in front of a real fire with a real book and one of those battery operated Ryobi lamp thingies. Other than the noise from the wind howling around the house it was very quiet... until the cats discovered they had a liking for my butter tablet and ran away with the crinkly packet.

Was just about to call it a night when the electricity came back on just before midnight. Thought about blipping for a second and then though that I had better charge all the batteries up - just in case.

That was my Monday. Windswept and worried. Tuesday will see us run the gauntlet of the ash cloud from Iceland as the man attempts the return leg of the journey!

PS The sad stuff quickly descended into silly. Want me to send you some of these Annie!?!

PPS What else do you do when there's no juice?!
