The Curse
She left the web, she left the loom,
She made three paces through the room,
She saw the water-lily bloom,
She saw the helmet and the plume,
She look'd down to Camelot.
Out flew the web and floated wide;
The mirror crack'd from side to side;
"The curse is come upon me," cried
The Lady of Shalott.
I left the house to go to the dentist, only to receive a panic phone call from hubby this afternoon, when the asbestos sheets started being ripped off the shed next to the house, and hurled across the yard.
As hubby got up off the chair to investigate the noise, a fragment of sheet managed to wing it's way through the sitting room window just a few feet from him.
Thankfully wee one was at nursery and not glued to the TV inches from the window......
I don't know why, but this verse kept popping into my head as I swept up the broken glass outside.
So, apparently more wind tonight and then a slightly calmer day tomorrow, with the wind only reaching 45mph.
Unbelievable that on trying to get to nursery to collect wee one, had to make three attempts via three different roads to get there, and a ten minute journey took 40 mins. However, at least I got home, and I felt sorry for all the poor sods stranded at airports, stations and on motorways.
Today wind, tomorrow volcanic ash.
Maybe the end really is nigh!
