wasn't surprised too much...
by this scene...
Not too young man. Speakers desk. Dark suit. Important words. Important man.
Old men. And very old men. Listening. Clapping hands. Grey suits, brown suits, black suits.
Young man. Bored.
Anyway. The words, spoken by the Federal President of Germany in occasion for the opening of the new permanent exhibition in the 'House of Contemporanean History' of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn, were wise, well analyzing and (for me surprisingly) quite motivating. Words about history, identity, peace, politics, remembering and as the important point about the responsibility of every single one in designing future and history.
Big words for such a young man. But maybe a good point to overthink how we old ones adress to the youth. After all, they're the future that one day will be history.
We were invited to the opening because the House of History asked for exhibits of our environmental project, dealing with protection of (ancient) forests and climate. In the run-up to the UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen 2009 we did a protest march, on foot 2000 km from Constance to Copenhagen, with uncountable dates with german politicians of all ranges and a meeting with the german delegation.
I must say, I was quite pleased, seeing one of the exhibits now in the exposition, one of our 1000 mermaids, the symbol of Copenhagen (due to the famous statue at the harbour). Maybe that's what the speech meant to me: that you really form history by doing or not doing. Everyone. Anytime. Cool, isn't it?
(I case you're curious you can see our projects site, all small part is in English. If further interested, you can look at the photos, which is anyway more interesting...)
And now: I'm done! I had to get up at 4:45 and came to seat on my sofa at around midnight. The day will last as an interesting memory.
