Apricot
Whenever I see apricots, or hear them mentioned in conversation, I think back to my adolescent years.
On our block (and adjacent blocks), there was almost every kind of non-tropical fruit growing somewhere. In our yard, we had a peach tree; our next door neighbours had a late summer peach tree (peaches that I used to love to eat when they were still green because they were crunchy); behind our house and down a few doors were apples (there were crabapples at the end of the block as well); several doors down were grapes; a couple doors down on the other side of the block were pears; our neighbours across the street had a cherry tree; next door to them were more grapes; across the alley from them were apricots.
We spent a great deal of our time as kids climbing trees and rooftops getting to the fruit and probably half of that time running from the owners of the various properties.
