Tunturi

Today again was giving support to U who is learning to ride a bike without the kiddy wheels. The bike he is riding here is his Tunturi, perhaps one of the most common domestic childrens bike model from the 80's and 90's. We were quite lucky as received that from my colleague who was going to dump it to trash as his kids were already grown up and the bike needed to be serviced.

Well, spent few hours with it doing a basic service and the bike has a whole new life now. It is not so shiny or does not have perfectly aligned mudguards etc but it's a solid bike. Something that all the new childrens bikes made in Taiwan or China are not.

Have been thinking lately about the modern culture where all important daily items are cheap and low quality junk what you have to buy again and again. It teaches ourselves and our children to not appreciate these items and take good care of them. I hope that as many of you share this though with me.
