Doune Castle
Stopped off at Doune Castle today.
In between showers it was really very nice though a little windy.
The castle was built in the late 14th Century. It never rivalled the great royal castles like Edinburgh and Stirling however it was used as a royal retreat where the royal family could relax and hunt in the nearby forests in the Trossachs.
More recently it has become known as the castle where Monty Python and the Holy Grail was filmed.
Followed this with lunch in the little cafe in Doune. Very nice.
