real butter for tea

We escaped the packing warehouse flat today and went to check on progress in Sussex. We have a crack team of perfectionist Polish builders but we shortsightedly employed the services of a local joiner to do all the doors, windows and staircase... guess who's disappeared on holiday leaving plenty of jobs undone and a large element of disappointment and shoddy workmanship in his wake.

This is a little village called Byworth (near Petworth, West Sussex). I'm guessing the 'Hovis' sign might be left over from its days as a bakery... if indeed it even was a bakery.

Back in London now for some more packing.
