Memories
Today was devoted to packing up my life. It's amazing how much stuff a person tows along with them, and after packing and unpacking my life more times than I can count, you would think I would have lessened the amount of stuff I choose to carry around...but no. These whelk shells have been sitting on my computer desk for the past five months. I've looked at them every so often, but truth be told, I've probably sat at that desk a total of one time. Funny how little things slip through your view until you have to wrap them up, and put them away somewhere for safe keeping. Empty shells. That's what my apartment is starting to look like now too...what was once a home filled with life is turning into an empty space. And such is life, an ebb and flow of people and places.
Last time I packed away things, I listened to Coldplay. Contemplative music serves me well for moving. This time it was Death Cab for Cutie. Appropriate too since Death Cab started in Bellingham, WA where I will be moving at the end of the summer.
"And I have learned that even landlocked lovers yearn
For the sea like navy men
'Cause now we say goodnight from our own separate sides
Like brothers on a hotel bed."
~Death Cab for Cutie, "Brothers on a Hotel Bed"
