Storm clouds over Newburgh Beach
The BBC weather forecast for today was:
Light Rain Shower
Max: 15°C
Min: 6°C
From where I was standing on Newburgh beach it looked a tad worse than a light rain shower!
The concrete blocks at the foot of the dunes at the top of the beach were built in 1940 to try to prevent any landing of German tanks. The line of blocks stretches all the way to Aberdeen, 12 miles to the south. That is an awful lot of concrete! Hidden on the slopes of large sand dune to the right there are the remains of a major gun battery that would have had a clear field of fire against any enemy fleet. Thankfully things are a lot quieter now!
