The Royal Mile 4 - John Knox House.
John Knox House is Edinburgh's oldest Royal Mile mansion. It was the home of Mary Queen of Scots' goldsmith and the final resting place of John Knox, a Scotland's controversial religious icon. John Knox (1505 - 1572), who was ordained a priest in the Roman Catholic Church of Scotland, swore himself an enemy of the Roman Catholic Church after his close friend, George Wiseheart, was burned at the stake by Cardinal Beaton. Mary of Guise, Mary Queen of Scots' mother, whom he really hated, tried to convert Knox back to Roman Catholicism with bribes of political power.
In 1564, he hit controversy again by marrying a member of the Stuart family and a distant relation to the queen, Mary Stuart. This was an extraordinary marriage because he was a fifty year old widower and his bride was not yet seventeen.
Mary Queen of Scots is reputed to have said: "I fear the prayers of John Knox more than all the assembled armies of Europe."
John Knox House is now a touristic attraction, with an exhibition that highlights the 15th century building's beautiful craftmanship and the stories of its famous inhabitants. It houses as well the Scottish Storytelling Centre.

I had a busy and productive day off today, but I've still got a fair amount of cleaning to do in the house after the shower works' mess. There's dust everywhere!
Back to work tomorrow! I hope you all had a great day!
