Roadtrip Day 11: Cross Country to Christchurch

Somewhere in the plains between Cromwell and Lake Pukaki

Long drive today from Te Anau to Christchurch, but it was across some really great scenery. I couldn't believe the color of lake Pukaki and Tekapo. It was like a radioactive cyan.

Fine weather for the entire drive, and then just as we're approaching CHCH there's a black cloud hovering over the city. At this point we were convinced the rain was following us.

We had dinner at this weird hippy cafe on a side street in New Brighton where they were clearly more interested in bad ukulele music than they were is producing food. Our orders of nachos and falafels took AN HOUR to come. And the large group of old amateur musicians weren't nearly worth the wait! The food turned out to be quite tasty though.

Campground review for Wingpig: South Brighton Motor Camp, Christchurch
I think this was a good choice. If you want to stay near to the city at least. You'll probably want to visit the New Brighton area anyway, plus it's convenient to the City Centre and the Port Hills. Nice little park with trees and stuff.
