Heading home across a corner of the Links I despaired of getting a shot of the house martins doing low level aerobatics or the trees which were being energetically whipped around by the wind. So I got in close to a tree trunk and took a photo of the tree's ID number. I think all of the trees in public spaces in Edinburgh have one of these numbers on; I bet the council keep A List somewhere.

And I wouldn't be surprised if MAiT knows where they keep it.
