Spiderlings
Yet another cold and grey day. It looked as if it was going to pour down all day. I took a chance at lunch time but only tried the shorter circuit just in case the heavens opened.
I came across two sets of these spiderlings in different hedges on my route. I think they are newly hatched garden spiders (possibly Araneus diadematus). There were hundreds of spiders piled together in a web. They were interesting to watch as they clambered over eachother and the braver ones explored the edges of the nest.
First exam for number two son today - he seems to think it went OK. More at the end of this week and next week. Fingers crossed.
