Anyone for a Maffick?

It was on this date in 1900 that the siege of Mafeking, during the second Boer War, was relieved. Facing superior Boer forces, British & African troops under the command of Robert Baden-Powell held out for 217 days.
The Relief of Mafeking caused widespread scenes of jubilation back in Britain & lead to the verb "to maffick", to celebrate exuberantly & boisterously, being coined.
It also made Baden-Powell a national hero, and his use of cadets as scouts and messengers during the seige inspired him to found the Boy Scout movement.
