I touch the earth

Today is Visakha Bucha Day, the full moon of the sixth lunar month. It's a day to commemorate Budhha's birth, enlightenment and passing into nirvana - three in one. I visited a temple today with some friends - we picked a very photogenic one - and spent the morning paying homage through our lenses.

Buddha statues lined the hallways on every level. I got into taking pictures of the Buddha's hands in different mudras (gestures). This one is the famous earth-touching mudra. As the Buddha sat in meditation, tempted by the demons, he touched the ground asking the Earth to bear witness to his enlightenment.
