It may not look like much to you

but that piece of fleece draped over my leg is a huge gesture of love and care from my smallest boy, and it fair made my eyes moist!

Woke up this morning feeling great, aside from a small nagging pain in the lower part of my right shin. And then I got out of bed. Nearly jumped through the ceiling in pain. Made me feel sick and cry in a v pathetic fashion.

TPD sorted out cover for himself, breakfasted him and the boys, got a lift to school for the big one and then took me up to the hospital. Doctor diagnosed me with a particularly nasty case of "medial tibial stress syndrome" (shin splints in posh doctor speak ;-)). She was concerned it may have been a stress fracture but the x-rays were clear. I tried my hardest to stifle laughter when she prescribed a week of rest with it elevated - she didn't get to meet the whirlwind that is Son Two!

So that's me, slouched on the sofa with my foot up. TPD had just removed the ice pack from my leg, and the small one went to the stack of nappies and picked up the fleece liner, brought it over to me and very carefully draped it over my leg, pausing only to give my other knee a quick hug, bless him.

It hurts a lot btw, but was it worth it? I think so. And would I do it again? Y'know, I think I would!
