My dirty clothes are fine, Mary!
Rodgers is a physically and mentally challenged twelve year old who Mary found five years ago in a village, sharing a shed with a dog. His mother had died and his father was an alcoholic who had abandoned him. The villagers gave him food sometimes but blamed his father for not caring for him as they had little food for themselves. He should have died but seemed determined to live.
By some amazing turn of fate Mary met Bertha (seen here) and she gave a small building to a homeless woman Ethel who has looked after Rodger 24/7 ever since. This is a really abbreviated version of an amazing story. Mary employs Ethel and it is a true winning combination. Bertha is the Angel and always has a troupe of orphans living with her.
Since then Rodgers attends the St John of God school which is an amazing first world school. When Mary found Rodgers he couldn't walk or barely crawl. He now walks very well, is as strong as a horse and would eat as much as one too!!. He can even travel to his SJOG bus in the morning alone and return as well.
This is a truly amazing story made up of the strong will of Mary and Rodgers, the expertise of the St John of God staff and two Heavenly sent angels, Bertha and Ethel.
The pic shows a reluctant Rodgers getting new clothes from his friends in Ireland. Ethel had gone shopping when we called but her grandson had taken over. Marc lends a helping hand as well.
