Whitby War Memorial

Whitby`s current hospital was built on the site of the former Whitby War Memorial Cottage Hospital which was opened by Princess Margaret?s aunt, Princess Mary, in November 1925.

The Cottage Hospital was demolished to make way for the new hospital which at the time was unique in that it was the first in Britain to be built incorporating a health centre with family doctors.

There are constant threats of closure/demolishment/moving all of which bring out the anger of locals re:- waste of money/resources.

Why fix if it ain`t broke?
