Silhouette of St Pauls.

This is the neighbouring church. It is one of the few ancient churches still standing in our city post earthquake, primarily because it is wooden. It is still out of action mainly because the engineers are too busy elsewhere to come and do a proper inspection and also because the organ pipes have fallen everywhere and are too difficult for the ancient parishoners to lift up into place. As is happens three of the most skilled organ restoration men in the island were killed by the earthquake while working at another stone church which collapsed. It maybe some time before someone can sort this particular church organ out. Not sure how many of those types of people there can be in New Zealand?
The bells in this church tower are the first bells to be rung in the south island I believe. It has been silent since the last major earthquake when the bells rang wildly of their own accord and made the tower a bit unstable in the uncontrolled swinging. One of these days we hope to hear them again.
I took this photo in the near dark as I havent done that before, so just a different perspective. Black and White with high contrast. I liked the silhouette it made, as it shows off its simple design and I guess pure intentions in putting up the shape with its classical shape. SHOWS BETTER DETAIL IN LARGE.
