Broken dock

I love living on a lake except when the wind decides to pick up. It all started yesterday and got so bad we had white caps on the lake. As you can see, this is what happens to boat docks when the waves hit it and the wind blows. It actually broke the boards to the ramp. I was looking out the window when it started happening and we were able to put a chain and ropes on the dock, tie it to the tree and 2 stakes in the ground. Otherwise, it would have ended up at the other end of the lake. The wind also blew our big BBQ over. No trees were lost but we did get plenty of branches all over the yard. I have always believed that things happen for a reason. We were suppose to leave on vacation Tuesday but have cancelled to do a little repairing around our place. There is always another day to go to Mt Rushmore. We have been there twice already but because of rain and cloud cover, have not been able to see it yet.
