enjoy the sun while ye may

today has mainly been rainy and cold - which, as I've been complaining about it being too hot and dry for weeks is, of course, a really good thing. I just happen to prefer hot and dry to wet and cold.

The chickens hate the rain and spend their day hanging out in the dog's shed waiting for the rain to stop so they can rush out and hunt beetles and eat grass seeds before it starts again. Our chickens have a wonderful life, I really envy them at times. They are totally free range with acres of land to wander around on. At night they sleep in an old army observation post (what could be safer?) They get well fed and even have a lovely bit of garden to steal vegetables from. They just do whatever they feel like - and if that happens to be standing in the middle of the road stopping the traffic, well, so be it.

Today we went to our nephew/cousin's First Communian. Church isn't really our cup of tea but it was a nice family occasion and we all went out to Sunday lunch together afterwards. Needless to say, I ate and drank too much and slept all afternoon :-)
