Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

Anniversary Moment

Our daughter and son-in-law are acknowledging and celebrating that 23 years ago today at noon they each made a promise that changed their lives completely. It changed ours too.

We stopped at the bank earlier today to withdraw some bucks for gifts and then late this afternoon we stopped by their home to give them a celebration card with the gift bucks tucked inside.

I wrote inside the card, "We are wondering today where 23 years evaporated to? Poof and look at all the memories--zillions of them. It's been a dance of love and pain and everything in between. All of that has molded you, your kids, and us into what we've become. I think what we've all become is pretty darn good! So some bucks to celebrate: one for both of you and one for each of you to spend on the other. Okay?!" Then I signed it with my normal Mom/Carol and Mr. Fun signed his thoughts.

Two years ago I blipped a collage of their wedding photos and included a poem that I wrote for one of their earlier anniversaries.

It's been a good day! It was 23 years ago too!
Good night from Southern California.

P.S. Tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 is the memorial service for our friend George who died on April 27 from prostate cancer. Both of us have been asked to speak. A CD of the music of George's band and some of the songs that George wrote will be given to each person who attends. Tomorrow will be an emotional afternoon. I'll be blipping late tomorrow.
