At the School Carnival
Today was Carnival at our youngest daughter's elementary school...
There were the requisite ugly giant inflatable rubber slides and tunnel/obstacle courses, a silent auction indoors to raise money for the school PTA, a talent show, a disc jockey outside under a tent, face painting, tie-dyed sugar sticks, burgers and hotdogs on the grill, and this year, a booth for dunking teachers in a giant tub of water (this was hugely popular, as you can guess).
Here is youngest daughter G (on right, with her mouth full of sugar) and her bff N (on left), after having done the "Cupid Shuffle". Too bad I didn't catch this on camera, as G always claims she doesn't like to dance.
All in all, they had fun, though there didn't seem to be as many activities as in past years.
This also means that the school year is nearly winding down to a close. Next week they have their SOLs (Standards of Learning Tests) and then it'll be a short sweet slide to June.

And for those of you who are wondering, I am still writing a poem a day at Dave Bonta's Via Negativa site. Here is a link to link to my poem from yesterday; and you can scroll back to all previous entries.
