Rain, Rain, Rain

In the Midwest last night we had a killer storm. It was of the slow-moving variety, and the rain just would'nt stop coming down. When it rains hard and long, the water collects in my sun-porch, and then eventually into my family room. Not much fun. I think we need to dig up all the way around our house, and replace all the drain tiles. It's not something I want to do myself, so the operation would be quite costly.

Our backyard was a river. The petunias are drooping( nothing worse than drooping petunias.) The flowering trees took a hit. It's still raining, so the squirrels and birds are soaked to the skin. The tulips lost their lips, so now they are onelips. My chihauhau was terrified, hiding on the smallest shelf of the computer desk. And, to top things off...in the middle of the downpour, I went to move my small cardboard potted seeded plants to safety, set them on the side of the grill, and over they went. Now I have that mess to clean up.

ENOUGH about the depressing weather. We have 3 pine trees in our backyard. Every time I pass by them and get a little whiff...I am transformed to the mountains. I get a mental picture of mountains, a fast-flowing river, and pine trees. I just wish the fast-flowing river was'nt in my yard.

For a tiny silver lining...the rain on the pine tree really made it glisten. I love how the drips hang on for as long as they can before falling to earth. May your part of the world be 75 and sunny. Aloha for now.
