The remains of the day (Recycling Series #7)
My gardening friend J has converted her barn and stables into an art gallery for the weekend. J and two other girlfriends, all women in their 70s and 80s, are showing their work to the public, so I went along this morning to have a look.
This is part of an installation of 52 boxes by Miche. It's made entirely of found objects - bits of wire, scraps of oak flooring, broken door hinges, sections of rusty fencing, used staples, twisted tree roots, old rope, you name it - that she assembled in wooden wine crates painted white. I adore the way her imagination has transformed everyday detritus into objects of delight and whimsy.
Look closer.
