Dog day afternoon
It was on Catblip Sunday, May 8th, that my poor little Jack Russell, Casey, was attacked by another dog, and this is the first time he has felt well enough to go for his customary walk. One of the bites inflicted is visible on his rump and he is still on medication to counteract infection. He has spent the last four days in his bed under the kitchen table looking very sorry for himself so I was delighted when he perked up this morning. He is the most docile dog imaginable and has never harmed anything; he ignores rabbits, rats and cats.
Casey is posing beside some common spotted orchids, Dactylorhiza fuchsii, which, at this time of the year, bloom in great profusion on the rough coastal grassland, dotting the short turf with flower spikes from deep pink to near-white - some only a few centimetres high.
(I must admit we are not actually in the dog days, the hottest period of the year when dogs prefer to slumber in the shade, but I wanted to bag another one for the movie titles challenge too.)
