Playfair House

One of the many designs of architect William Playfair is Playfair House, or the house of Mr. Ellis, at No 8 Inverleith Row which bears the date 1824 on a brass plate on the threshhold.

Visitors to the Royal Botanic Gardens leaving by the East Gate will have seen the sculpture of a recumbent hound on the roof of the rear extension.
