Bon Accord ?

One of the iconic features of Aberdeen is this bank in Union Terrace gardens where a magnificent floral crest is created anew every year by the dedicated gardeners. Here we see a larger group of gardeners than usual start to clear up the crest ... I'm sure this will be blipped in its full splendour later in the Summer.

Above the main crest is a smaller disc bearing the logo "Our City" :-)

Framed by mature trees, the dome of St. Mark's Church, the statue of William Wallace and His Majesty's Theatre make a dramatic backdrop.

There are currently proposals to destroy this green oasis in the very centre of the granite city with a massive construction project which would submerge all the green you can see here under a concrete sea :-(
