The cat has left the building.
The big day has finally arrived. The day we've all be waiting for. The day that's been months in the making. First it was going to be after his second immunisation. Then after his snip. Then after his third immunisation. And now, one week after the snip and jab were combined in one mean feat of veternarianism, Pippin has left the building. He's finally allow to frolic and play outside. We can now open doors properly, ventilate the house, and kick him out if he gets annoying.
So far he's
- climbed a tree
- realised he was up a tree
- panicked
- jump-fallen very ungracefully off the tree
- watched some birds
- hidden behind my legs because the birds made loud noises at him
- pounced on dangerous things - a rock, some hair, a piece of bark
- caught a mouse
and PAUSE. A mouse? How long's he been out there? A couple of hours! A mouse already? Why must cats be so lovely and wonderful but also so vicious? Continue.
- Gone out the cat flap
- miawed at us to let him back in
- gone out the cat flap
- miawed at us to let him back in
- gone out the cat flap
- miawe... forcibly pushed back through the cat flap a few times until he got the hang of it.
And now he's galumphing outside. I hear an occasional 'tinkle tinkle' from his bell, or 'miawww'. Not sure if he's trying to get me to go and play with him, but it's not going to work. I'm curled up by the fire and will not be moved. I can also hear the birds twittering and gossiping about this new creature in their territory.
I now have this song going around in my head.
Edit: I've just changed the shot. Was umming and ahhing between this and this shot, and finally made a decision to go with my original choice. It may be a little dark, but less of a 'standard cat shot' (not that I have anything against them - any cat shot is valid in my book, some are just more original).
