Cat in a basket

This was my mother's shopping basket, bought in the 1940s. In those pre-supermarket days shopping for food was a daily event and so the basket has seen a lot of action. Retired from active service it now sits on top of the kitchen wall cabinets and is a favourite sleeping spot for Thomas, our cat.
