Dusty haze

Cairo is a city mostly untroubled by pavements.

Most of my walking time is spent on the road, enjoying mouthfuls of dust and sand whenever a car careers past. I don't bother shining my work shoes before I leave the flat as the state they get in during the walk to the bus makes it a redundant task.

Instead, I wait till I'm at work where I use Kareem's whiteboard eraser to polish them up, much to the hilarity of Sonia who had no idea a whiteboard eraser could make your shoes look so damn good.
