Hammer and Heat

Our school is heated by a coal fired boiler. Back in April I blipped the engineers doing their yearly check for it's compliance certificate (or whatever it is that it gets).

Last night and tonight we have had Parent/Teacher/Student interviews so I was at school later than usual and managed to catch our caretaker, who goes by the appropriate nickname of Hammer, clearing the same boiler. The wonderful Hammer does this every morning and night for the next 6 months to ensure that we are warm in our offices and classrooms.

He tells me he enjoys it. Although I'm inclined to remind him that it's going to be a lot colder at 6.30 in the mornings and evenings by about August, and he might not enjoy doing it quite so much then, I will keep my mouth shut. By then I will be appreciating arriving at my nice warm office.
