Climbing at Harrisons Rock
Today was the day that the kids got to rock climb outdoors for the first time, after nearly three years of indoor climbing.
It took us just over an hour to drive to the meeting point, which was a car park in the middle of nowhere. Once we had all arrived we made our way to the rocks. There were about fifteen of us walking through the bluebell woods, birds in the trees, lots of laughter and it all seemed very idillic. For some reason though, all I could think of was that it seemed like the start of one of those horror movies where the group of teenagers go for a fun day caving and all end up being killed one by one by a mysterious unseen monster. I really must try and keep my imagination under control.
Of course, there were no monsters and we all had a lovely day. Beth and Jamie got to do lots of climbs and received loads of encouragement from the other climbers. Unfortunately Jamie did hurt his foot quite badly when he made a jump, but still managed a few more climbs, much to our amazement.
We are now home, kids are tired and Jamie can hardly walk, but we all had a brilliant day.
