Eruption

Maybe I should explain what it is.

It is a sandy beach but Kirkcaldy being a coalmining area, the sand has a fair proportion of grains of coal in it as well.

A heavy shower of rain drained off the Prom and through spouts onto the upper beach. Some of the water soaked straight in, but some of it washed the lighter coal forward in surges as the rainfall fluctuated. This was the resultant pattern on the beach.

Another drainage spout had been much more powerful and the coal grains washed forward were thick and formed what looked very much like a mini lava flow.
