Little Ducklings
Two weeks ago, we were taking out some plants from Rein's garden. When he put the spade into the ground at one point he heard a strange noise. He looked and called me, underneath a big Heather a Duck was nesting.
This morning the eggs came out and we counted about 8 little Ducklings (untill now......). Now what! There's no water nearby, but a dirty ditch full of rats. The volunteers of the animal resque center advised to keep them in the garden for two or three weeks, so the Ducklins will grow a bit stronger and then take them to a pond where there's not another large group of Ducks. Adult Ducks of another large group seem to kill Ducklings that donn't belong to the same group, nature can be so cruel!
We've placed a shallow plate with water so they can drink and tomorrow morning first thing to do is buy some baby Duckfood......
Will keep you informed :-)
