Swans in a flap

Between the showers and amidst a monster set of shopping trips to various different locations around the city (and a trip to the recycling facility) we popped into Figgate Park for the second time (for the first time see here).

Where previously the birdlife had seemed quite peaceful, this time - with weans in presence now - there was a lot more going on. Mr A shot a short video of some coots being nasty to each other's weans when they got too close, and while you cannot see the swans that easily on this picture, the ones that are a bit fluffed up were trying to rid the pond of some interlopers, whom we imagined may have come down from Duddingston Loch. Perhaps there are richer pickings by way of bread offered by the locals here (a lady told me they all preferred brown bread and didn't much like white...).

In other news, the shopping trip yielded (apart from dull domestic stuff and a supermarket trip) a Kindle, as part of Mr A's birthday present from me for an upcoming 'milestone' birthday. We are looking forward to having a play with it when it is charged up.

Good to be home for a couple of days, although I have trips to Brussels and London coming up this week.
