The cottage in the middle distance was last occupied by a deer stalker in the 1950's. Evidence of earlier occupation can be seen by all the lines on the hillside. These are 'lazy beds' where the crofter used to grow potatoes. The furrows were dug to improve the poor ground and give the crops drier ground. This area is known as Pairc and it was a one and a half hour paddle to gain access to this remote area. There are no roads here and I've long thought this is the true wilderness of Scotland.
