Wings
Taken bleary-eyed but excited in the early morning at Rome's Fiumicino Airport. I liked the reflection of the tailplane on the wing.
Tested my Italian by ordering a coffee (miracles, it worked!) - also managed to get a Microsim from TIM for the iPad so we will have internet on the trip.
Didn't see any of Rome from the plane (bit disappointed) but the flight up the coast to Genova was amazing. Seeing the autostrada pass over multitudinous giant viaducts and into tunnels through the mountains of Liguria was particularly impressive. Just as well that you can't look down when you are actually driving!
Our apartment is light and airy and has a view of the Mediterranean. About a million steps to get there though. Our landlady was kind enough give us a brief tour of the town so we were able to get stocked up at the supermarket before crashing.
