this was one of a group of these trees (i don't know what kind) that had grown in this way. parts of the massive trucks had continued to prosper while the other half had not.
most all of them had a hollow centre that it was possible to walk into. standing inside a living thing that has stood for 3-400 years (my dad's estimate) is a peculiar thing.
